US$ Hits 26 Year Low Against UK£

When you're getting paid in Dollars this is not a good thing. Luckily many of our outgoings at Cubicle 7 are also in Dollars so it's not effecting us too much. Might just mean we look at getting more US based freelancers over their European counterparts though...

Anyway, at one point today £1 would get you $2.027. Makes our GenCon hotel that much cheaper if it stays along those lines. Also means that we have to sell even MORE books at GenCon to cover our air fares (which are in UK Pounds Sterling). But it does mean that we'll be able to party hard as that won't cost us as much :p

I will have to keep my wallet in check when I'm over there though. There are so many cool games coming out at GenCon that I wants - and that's without going to one of the local DVD and book shops...

I reckon I owe you a few in anycase and would be mroe than happy to oblige :)

We should all try and organise a little drink up at somepoint. I know I've chatted to a couple of other guys about it too who seem keen.

Ah pish! I was relying on the Abranson Open Wallet Policy to keep me in drink throughout the con. Guess I'll just have to make some money then.

Cheers

Ha. Even in ENGLAND they look at a Clydesale bank note as if you've just printed it in your shed.

I am so annoyed that my job ends next month and I cannot send any money back to the states. My student loans aren't going to pay themselves!

Gah!
Figures, this is the year of no GenCon for Caz.

There's always 2008.

Eurk. I get paid in US dollars by a Dutch company. I had the choice of that or the Euro... a few years ago, admittedly. [sigh]

Open a Dollar bank account and keep your US funds in there so you don't get hit for commission when paying for US stuff and it means you can wait and see if the dollar rises in the future before withdrawing.

Hmm - is it worth buy a wodge of silly cheap $s and squirreling them away against the hope that the $ might recover (one day) and thus

Using US freelancers more? Erk! Support your local British freelancers! It's not fair to outsource to impoverished nations, where just one of our British quids will feed a freelancer and her family for a week... ;)

Hmmmm, US freelancers for what? :-) Tech authoring? Proofreading? Indexing? Playtesting?

:-)
