French Translations?

I don't suppose there's any of you who would be prepared to translate some French RPG books into English for a small fee plus a royalty on books sold is there?

The small fee is really a nominal 'thank you' so don't get too excited - the 'small' is the key word in the sentence (but it will be three figures in UK Pounds Sterling). The royalty should help though - especially if the books sell well!

The idea is to provide the translation and then I, or another writer, will rewrite them with any changes, etc, for the Anglo-American audience. We'd be looking at releasing the first title in Q2 2008 if possible.

I could try and translate them myself but my French is very rusty (and was never good at the best of times) and it would probably take me all year to translate just a small book!!!

Let me know if interested on angus @ cubicle7.co.uk

I might know some people, I'll rattle some e-mails for you but no promises, they tend to do stuff the other way around.

I play CoC with a bunch on bilinguals here in Montreal but their French might be too Quebecois for you.

My French is kinda rusty too... but my Mum taught French at assorted secondary schools for several decades, so LMK if you have no luck elsewhere, she might well be interested.

How big is it? I game in French as well as English so I possibly know the item but I'm not terribly keen on anything too big.

Possibly, also if you cannot find someone then I would definitely be able to.

I just asked one of my friends who speaks English, French, Itlanian, Swedish and Spanish - she's a professional freelance translator. Unfortunately she's far too busy to take anying else on right now. Also French is her weakest language.

I doubt you'll have any problems finding someone - it looks like you've got a surfeit of offers already!
