The Optician

Went for a twenty minute opticians appointment today that turned into an hour twenty minutes!!!

Some good news and some bad news.

Good news is that one of my eyes has stayed the same as it was 3 years ago (-7.75) and the other has actually IMPROVED a fair amount (now -8.25 down from -9.25 last time)! Not quite sure how that happened.

Bad news is that they don't do really any frames in my style anymore. I've been recycling my old frames for a few years now because they were getting scarce but my recycling has to end as my frames are all pretty loose, broken, whatever...

So I've ended up going for a brand new paid of frames (gulp) plus have also gone for a pair of sunglasses (partially as I've never had a pair before and partially because they are a 'cooler' second pair that I can imagine wearing a fair bit anyway - also they gave me money off to the tune of a three figure sum! :p)

Unfortunately due to the need for lens reduction and all the otehr bits I have done the final price is NOT cheap. Even after knocking off the money they did. Hopefully they'll be ready in time for my American trip in a couple of weeks. Hopefully I'll have the money to pay for them then too!!!

Now to arrange a dentist trip for more financial headaches...

I know it's not the nicest thing to say but I really can't wait for my inheritance to come through. Then I sit back. Pay off a load of the bills, debts that I owe and then decide what I'm going to treat myself to (holidays to Cuba, Japan or Iceland are possible as is a nice flatscreen HD TV and entertainment system).

Until then I think it's looking increasing likt baked beans on toast for a bit if I want my new glasses PLUS dentist trip!

I'm currently sorting out the realms of fun with my finance company at the moment, just so I can watch it all disappear down the tube through my outgoings.

Ah well.

On a lighter note, I'll be back in London this weekend. Fancy meeting up for a beer at some point?

Please listen to this man. Select Specs is the way forward and is not expensive. high street shops rip you off big time with glasses cost and the quality is jsut as good as the high street. I'm on my third pair from them and I love them dearly. (The latest pair was vanity cause I wanted new ones and the cost isn't massive with Select Specs)

I went for an eye test last week, appointment at three, didn't finish the test, choosing frames, etc. until well after five! Too many tests, and a guy administering some of them by rote and not able to work out why the equipment wasn't working properly. It turns out that my sight hasn't changed much after all that, if it wasn't for the fact that my glasses are scratched to buggery I could probably go on using them indefinitely.

I take *ages* to choose frames. I'm awful.

And the modern trend seems to be for really small ones that make you look evil. -er.
