GenCon Indy: I'm gonna burn baby....

Quite possibly in fact. I just did a five day weather forecast for Indianapolis and OH MOTHER OF GOD IT'S HOT!!!!

Admittedly we don't arrive until Tuesday but still!!!

Thursday: High 41C (105F) Low 25C (77F)
Friday: High 35C (95F) Low 23C (73F)
Saturday: High 36C (96F) Low 25C (77F)
Sunday: High 39C (102F) Low 27C (80F)
Monday: High 37C (98F) Low 26C (78F)

It's hotter at night than it is in London during the day!!!!

I'm an English boy! I'm used to grey skies and rain in the summer!!!! Not temperatures like that!!!

I dunno where the Beeb gets its weather info, but if you check here:

You get temps about 10 degrees F (or 5 degrees C) cooler. But it'll be beastly hot, you bet. And they don't turn on the AC in the exhibit hall until it opens, so it'll be 110 to 120 in there during setup. And it isn't the heat: it is the humidity.

Dress light, and drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids. Also, you should probably leave your body armor behind, and think of those poor bastards in Storm Trooper outfits.

True story.

According to many RPGs, you'll be more agile without armor and thus less likely to be hit.

OK, if you must. But be sure to bring a Camelback so that you don't dehydrate.

I'm a Florida native and I'm still not used to that shit.

Realistically, how much time will you spend outside during GenCon? They'll crank the AC and you'll be shivering and dashing out into the sun to warm up before you know it. Except during con set-up... we'll die horrible sweltering deaths before the con even starts if we're going to die from the beastly heat, sure enough.

I was chatting with some of the hall help on Wednesday a couple of years ago. A very friendly lady told me that the only way they'd turn on the A/C before the show started was if someone died first.

So, reassuring! Nobody's died on site yet.

Hmm, I'm suddenly reconsidering this whole trip. :)

But seriously, buggery, that's gonna be hot. I shall simply have to not move very much. :)
