Clubbage in London...

Ok, Angus needs some new clubs.

I quite like Inferno at The Electric Ballroom on the First Friday of the month but that's about it at present.

I loved B-Movie but won't be going again because I personally don't like the venue. With my love/hate/hate of Slimelight I'm a bit stumped atm although I have considered going and giving it another try and will probably cave in at somepoint only to remember why I dislike it.

I am probably going to give Tarantula at SIN on Charing Cross Road a go when I have a Third Friday free (and I feel awake). I also love the idea of Wrecked - a goth club crusing along the Thames - but the nexts one's this Saturday and I don't know how regular it is in anycase.

So, partygoers, what clubs can you suggest for me?

Requirements are good music, good company and a decent sized dancefloor* and general milling area  being Zone 1 or close to public transport would also be handy!

Music I'd be looking for would be more Industrial/Darkwave/EBM/Indie/80s/Rock/Goth. Please note that pure Metal clubs are not my thing and to be honest I'm not sure if a pure goth club would be these days - especially if it devoted itself to playing the more obscure tracks in the hope of being Gother Than Thou :p

* so this rules out many pub-based clubs and anything in a venue like St Moritz which, whilst I enjoyed lurking there a decade or so ago, is not really a 'club' but more of a narrow hall with a bar.

I have no idea about clubs, I want to go to one Friday next week (28th) after a concert I am at in London, but I don't know of any that are good now!

Yo... are you still planning on coming up to see Black Sheep with us? Or are you working?

What time does the film start? I have a feeling I won't be able to make it to Leicester in time if it's too early in the evening.

I'll also have to check the diary to make sure I'm not busy on the Saturday as it'd be a pain to have to rush back to London again either on the Saturday or (especially) Friday night.

Can you send me a link to some more info? Is it in a decent sized club? Or atleast have a decent sized dancefloor?
Also, what range of music does it play?

The layout is as follows:

Very nice outside area with benches, for smokers.
Entrance with several round sofas for socializing, then Bar area with a nice space between the bar and more seats, sofas, tables...etc.... and in the end of the club there is the very nice dance floor....more then decent sized.
The atmosphere is great, you can easily just sit down and chat, then go dance, then socialize...etc...etc..... And there is the added bonus that Liana drives us back from there !! :)

(that's only a small part of the place)

But I think that it is mostly pointless, as we will most probably proceed to kidnap you to the next one...

Hi there!....you can join the london goth meet up group they always post events and are organising Wrecked 2 after last years success!...its a yearly thing and I'm not sure there are any tickets left!

Invocation is excellent but maybe more trad goth than your looking for, you have kryptorium at the london stone too, new sunday night club in camden, Raven...also havok on every sunday at the purple turtle!

Good luck.

Sin is smaller than the Egg club, but also has a large outdoor area. It's is a bit skanky, feeling like a warehouse with great big red sheets hung from the wall. I've been to Decadence there a couple of times and it has lost atmosphere due to the location. There is definitely a lack of clubs (of all types) at the moment, still winter is coming and that always seems to bring more clubs with it.

I like Kryptorium for a good mix of musical styles and a friendly atmosphere. There are plenty of dancable tunes and cocktail jugs at £6.66 (big enough to cover a round as you can get 6-8 glasses out of them and the venue is free so it's a cheap night out if the budget's tight!)

I would say Invocation but judging by this comment:

I'm not sure if a pure goth club would be these days - especially if it devoted itself to playing the more obscure tracks in the hope of being Gother Than Thou :p

I'd say it's probably not your cup of tea as it is very purist! It does draw a fairly decent punter base though, so conversation is good and allows you to ignore the weird b-sides of bands no one's ever heard of that no one listened to in the 80s...

But then I'm a bit of a pretentious purist so like that sort of thing ;p

Though Krypto is the best thing in London IMO.

Thanks for the offer but I can't this Friday as I'm working on Saturday and have a couple of friends coming over in the evening anyway.

Otherwise I'd be up for it :)
