The downpoint of the day was returning home to find that our landlord is not renewing our contract in February. He's intending on moving in to the house himself so Dave, Jade and myself are having to move on and find ourselves a new place to call home.

We've all agreed we'd like to carry on living with each other - and in the same general location (Camden up to Woodside Park - preferrably Finchely Central or Highgate). So the hunt begins.

I'm going to talk to the landlord tomorrow to find out if February is an unmovable fixed date or if we might be able to stay for an extra month or two whilst we sort things out. If it's just a case of him moving in then it might be possible. If it's a case of his wife is pregnant and they want to be in before the birth - then obviously time is more of an essence.

It's going to be a real shame to leave this house. It really felt like a 'home' and, as anyone who's been here can verify, it's really large, warm and would be spacous if it wasn't for all my things in the living room :p

I've lived here for 4 years - which is a long time in the same place for me - and have some great memories here.

Bugger :(

Sorry to hear that. I hope you find what you are looking for at an exceptionally good price and room for all and sundry.

It's possibly but we're probably be looking for somewhere in the Finchley Central area.

If this had taken place a year later then I might have looked further afield but for now it makes sense to stay 'local' if we can find somewhere suitable.

Mind you, I don't know your plans for the New Year yet! So if we do manage to stay local you'd better too!!!!

Might make Blood & Velvet tomorrow - not sure as I have a lot of work to catch up on at home and have been out/busy every night this week so could do with a night in alone. Can you send me the details?

Take care

Another problem with living in one place for four years is that you accumulate four years' worth of crud too - I must've thrown out about a third of the contents of my house before I moved from Glasgow to London!

That's a shame hun. I don't envy you the job of moving all your stuff. And you have to stay in the Finchly/Highgate neck of the woods or I'll never see you! Hope you make B&V tomorrow

Gods alive, that sucks.

Don't forget to get the removal men to get the stuff out of the loft!

Boo! New gaming headquarters from February then! We have to organise a good sending-off/housecooling party then. :)

Ya know, I'm fairly sure that your landlord isn't actually allowed to do that believe it or not. You might want to try to have a word with someone at a CAB before you all agree to move out.

Our contract is up on 12th February so it's just a case of not renewing it. That's perfectly fine.

I spoke to the landlord today and he's happy for us to stay a few extra weeks/month whilst we find a place we really like. It's just a simple case of our agreement running out and the owner of the building wanting to move in himself at the end of it.

I've got no problems with that. It's perfectly fair. Even if it's a shame and a hassle for us to be moving.
