Dark Horizons and Batman Begins

I've been exploring the Dark Horizon website that I mentioned in the last entry and it looks like an excellant source of film/TV news and gossip for those of the more 'cult/sci-fi/horror/bent'. I've already learnt about a posisble sequel to 28 Days Later (which was one of my favourite films a couple of years ago), A Scanner Darkly (from one of my fav authors - Philip K Dick), and Predator 3 amongst other things.

It also directed me to a website dedicated to Batman Begins - the brand new relaunch of the Batman franchise on the silver screen. I already knew about some of the actors involved but they had a much more complete list and it sounds like it should be good (let's face it - it certainly won't be as bad as the last two Batman attempts!).

Batman/Bruce Wayne - Christian Bale

Alfred Pennyworth - Michael Caine

Sgt James Gordon - Gary Oldman

Ra's Al Ghul - Ken Watanabe (from the Last Samurai)

Lucius Foxc - Morgan Freeman

The Scarecrow - Cillian Murphy (28 Days Later)

Henri Ducard - Liam Neeson

Mr Earle (Wayne Enterprises CEO) - Rutger Hauer

Who directs it?

And isn't Ra's Al Ghul supposed to be African?

Christopher Nolan is directing it. Previous credits include the utterly marvelous Momento (Writer/Director), and Insomnia (Director).

As far as Ra's Al Guhl is concerned - I couldn't tell you. I never really read the Batman comics so my limited knowledge comes from general comic history and the movies/TV shows/cartoons. I was always a 'Marvel' comics fan when I was a kid and now tend to veer towards the more 'Vertigo' na dindy side of affairs.

Ra's Arabic.

Not entirely keen on the idea of another k. Dick film. I think Hollywood has forgotten how to read.

According to the Philip K Dick Trust (run by his kids) the Scanner film is very true to the original story. They posted an on-location report of it on http://www.philipkdick.com/films_scanner-061204.html
The main Philip K Dick site is http://www.philipkdick.com/

Filming the new batman movie
They were filming some scenes for the film in Mill Hill the other month. The national institute of medical Research is going to be a insane asylum... You always need a madhouse in batman.
