GameCamp: London Saturday 3rd May

The Guardian have organised 'GameCamp' in London on Saturday 3rd May. It's an open floor, open discussion forum for people to come and talk about a wide range of various gaming activities and philosophies from computer games, tabletop games, RPGs, ARGs, Bord Games, etc.

The day is being broken down into a number of slots which people can book to run talks/discussins in the various rooms avallable. These talks will be interspersed by 15 minute commu al breaks plus lunch and drinks laid on by The Guardian, Sony and Nintendo.

A number of 'industry guests' will be at the event to bring their expertise, knowledge and ideas to the programme. I know James Wallis (ex-Hogshead Publishing) and myself have been invited along and will both be attending.

Anyway, there are 120 limited places (currently about 87 left I believe after it was announced this morning) so if you have an interest in any aspect of gaming (all gaming branches are being covered) please have a look at there website and come and join us...

Drat. That sounds excellent, but I have my aunt visiting that weekend and have promised to entertain her (and do not think I could get away with taking her to the weekend, alas).

On a total tangent, you might be interested to know that I'm setting up to run a game of Scales with friends. Might as well use all those translations . . .

Re: sounds good, but why the saturday of the may day weekend!
I've no idea but agree it's a bit irritating as I did have some other plans pencilled in over that weekend (especialy a tons of stuff are happening at the end of May one too...).

Seems like it's already full up. At least, it's telling me that no more tickets are available.

I'm showing 70 tickets still available - http://gamecamp.eventwax.com/gamecamp-2008

Well I just tried again, and I'm still getting: "Unfortunately, no tickets are available for this event."

I've mailed the organisers to find out what the current status is.

Ok, tickets go on general release on Monday.

Would love to, but I'll be in Japan.
Apr. 18th, 2008 12:37 pm (UTC)
Hmmm... I think I'd opt for Japan of the two.

Was gutted when I got the invitation, we're in Denmark.

Do you know if Simon can make it? I forwarded your names along as a good choice for RPG industry representation.

Enjoy Denmark!

Hoping to make this. Does look like I'll have to wait for the remainder of the tickets to be released on Monday though.

Then need to think of something to talk about for 30 minutes. Maybe the developing trend in independent/narrative rpgs?

Tickets will be available on Monday
Thanks Angus for the link!

Just to clear things up, we have pre-invited a quorum of guests (including Angus himself) and the rest of the tickets are going on general release on Monday - we just wanted to let people know now, so that they can be ready to register if they're interested!

And why a Saturday? Why a bank holiday? Well, why not? You've got three days off, maybe you can spare one of them for us... and if you can't, then that's fine: hopefully if this one works, there will be more in the future.

I can haz ticket! :)

Quite looking forward to this, though it does appear a number of the usual London BarCamp crowd are going, which whilst they are all great people, hopefully won't mean the event isn't as diverse as I was hoping.

Definitely an event to not wear a geek t-shirt too, but rather a plainly obviously gaming one.
