Starblazer Adventures

drivingblind has just posted a preview of the front/back cover for our next release - Starblazer Adventures!

The covers not 100% finished yet so a few bits might change, but it's looking very good.

Starblazer Adventures is a MONSTER of a book. It's over 600 pages long making it one of the biggest RPG core books produced (The Hero System 5th Edition is about 600 pages for comparison). It's jam packed full of stuff though - and has tons of artwork from the Starblazer comic series published by DC Thompson in the late 70's through to early 90's.

Our supplements for the book - including a fantasy edition - will be alot smaller though. I think doing one 600+ page is enough for any company (doing more could result in multiple nervous breakdowns I think...).

Anyway, here's the preview...

This is quite likely going to be my next RPG purchase. What's the street date?

It looks fantastically super awesome.

We're going to be rushing some off the presses in time (hopefully) for GenCon Indy. Actual date for distributor/store copies probably won't be until October or maybe even November because we'll have to wait for the full print run to be run off and shipped.

There's possibilities it might be earlier but we should know (hopefully) for certain by GenCon when copies should be available through stores. We may get some advance copies in early to send out direct and are planning on having the PDF available before then. We're looking at various pre-sale bonuses including a pre-order system whereby if you order the hardcopy from us we'll send you the PDF straight away free of charge. Still talking possibilities over though but you can be guaranteed we'll make the relevant announcements when we've confirmed.

The cover is phenomenal, and 600 pages to boot?
I'm having problems getting my editorial team to even look at my 400+ page monster...
Starblazer Adventures has jumped to to the top of my "must pick up at Gencon" list.

The back cover text is in Latin? Or is that just filler?

So what's the MSRP? $99.95?
Jul. 10th, 2008 08:07 pm (UTC)
It's Lorem Ipsom, standard filler for simulating text.

Yep. If you hop over to my LJ, you'll see the cover as it evolved over the course of the day.

brings a tear to my eye.

any news on a release date?

It looks splendid. But is there any truth in the rumor that in the entire book has been written in Lorem Ipsom?

I want one.

Im curious to know why this is getting a State-side launch ahead of a UK launch. Seeing as this is a British comic, unless there is a massive fan-base awaiting in the States, or in fact its just the way the convention circuit is going this year.

It's just the way the Convention circuit has worked out - as it is it's been incredibly tight getting it to a point where we *should* have it out at GenCon Indy in mid-August.

If it does hit Indy (which it really should be in a pre-release format atleast - although this is looking likely to be a softcover prerelease due to printers and speed atm) then we should have copies at GenCon UK a couple of weeks later *if* we are in attendence at that convention. People will certanly be able to buy any remaining softcovers direct from us and of course place preorders for the Hardcover for when it's released (and almost certainly be sent a PDF version straight away FOC).

When the Hardcover is printed and in circulation it will be available through distributors and stores worldwide at the same time.
