Doctor Horrible Act III - Thoughts

Ok, that was a *long* 15 minutes. I couldn't watch it yesterday when I posted because the video kept jamming. Apparently a number of friends had problems viewing it yesterday so i'm guessing the amount of people trying to access Act III jammed and/or slowed the site.

So I finally just managed to watch the third and final Act of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog and... I can honestly say it wasn't what I predicted on Friday. It was very good though and I look forward to seeing what Joss Whedon and co do with it on the DVD when it's released and beyond that. There's the 'Captain Hammer Comic' for starters or the t-shirt range.

Anyway, it was a great little 3-part supervillian musical and I hope more is to follow...

So what did you predict?

That Captain Hammer would turn out to be Bad Horse and Dr Horrible would end up inadvertantly killing/subduing him and being hailed as a hero - and hating it, but possibly ending up with the girl which made it bareable for him.

Which would've been nice. (I was thinking something else too.)

I originally thought the chick would end up being an evil villain also trying to get in the league but then I saw how things were playing in Pt2 with the "sleep with chick because YOU want to" and thought.. hmmm... nup - she's a stereotype and irrelevant.

I thought about the girl being a villain thing, but discarded it after episode two. However I kind of hoped that Joss would conform to a more traditional musical theatre format and have one side end well. This is after all an inherently silly medium (people tell their story through the medium of song after all) and you don't need to get all angsty over it.

The problem with the ending he used was that it just left everyone shafted. You can get do that in a series because everyone at some point gets their day (and the main characters probably get it near the end of the season), but in a one-off it just leaves you a little deflated.

But that may just be me.
