Scientist says doomsayers are twats...

May as well party like it's the end of the world this weekend ... just incase :p

But I did like Prof Brian Cox (of Manchester University) comment "Anyone who thinks the LHC will destroy the world is a t***." :p

So, next Wednesday it is then...

Scientists get death threats over Large Hadron Collider (Daily Telegraph; Friday 5th September 2008) - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/main.jhtml?xml=/earth/2008/09/05/scilhc105.xml

About time we had a scientist talk sense.

Besides if it ends next week, I won't have to go back to work. :-)

To be fair its win win for him.

If he is correct, then come Thursday he looks like the voice of reason. And if they do accidentally destroy the planet, then he doesn't have to deal with a backlash about being wrong. ;)

The whole thing amuses me. Of course there is a chance that it will destroy the world, but then again there is a chance that the Sun will spontaneously implode or that if you throw a (normal) football at a (normal) wall that it will pass straight through. This does not mean that it will happen...

If the world is annihilated four days before the last session of my Buffy game I'll be really pissed off...

I interviewed Dr Cox before - he was Danny Boyle's scientific advisor while he made Sunshine! He's a really nice guy too and an Oldham Athletic fan, which made Shaun quite happy. :)
