Anyway, first up is a brilliant article by Henry Brubaker, the inventor of ther Large Hadron Collider, where he explains his reasons for carrying out the experiment. DIE MANKIND! DIE! (The Daily Mash)
There's also a website tracking the progress of the LHC and whether or not it has destroyed the planet yet: Has The Large Hadron Collider Destroyed The Earth Yet? - so keep an eye on that to see if any changes develop!
Anyway, apart from September 10th only being a test run (the real doom isn't occuring for another month or so when they start really firing things up and crashing the particle beams against each other) I know that it isn't going to be the end of the world. That comes in December 2012! Everyone knows that. So quit your worrying. You got another 4 years and 3 months! Or atleast most of you will do.
Oh, on the forgotten subject of global warming (after all, why worry about something that could take decades to kill us!) and all the 'SAVE THE PLANET' campaigns the Earth has decided to finally speak out by giving The Daily Mash (great site that) an interview. I'll be Just Fine, Says Planet. It also suggests a new slogan for us to use - as it's going to carrying on with or without us (hehe... LHC could really pull the rug out of that idea Earthy baby!) it's also suggested a new slogan the environmental campaigners can use as opposed to 'Save The Earth" - "'Save Your Sorry Arse'". I'm not sure that will catch on somehow though.
Anyway, as this is most obviously *not* the last night on Earth (and I have been suffering with a migraine for most of day) I've decided to forego the binge drinking, wild partying, hookers and coke and have an early night. Of course I'd be well peeved if we do suddenly get swallowed tomorrow morning now! Having a migraine on your last day of existence is a bit of a downer afterall...
Oh, one last video before bed. I haven't played any REM here for ... well, possibly for ever. So as this may be my last chance I've dug into their archive and chosen one completely at random! Completely you understand. So here is REM with a song apparently called "It's The End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" from 1987. (Strangely this song has now had over a million hits on youtube... wonder what that's all about? :p)
Take care everyone and hope to see you in the morning! And the next and the next and...
