Who Rumours

So, Patrick Stewart as The Meddling Monk (a rival Timelord to The Doctor). Could be interesting.

Stewart originally declared his interest and desire to appear in Doctor Who last year when it was announced that he would be appearing with David Tennant in Hamlet this year.

It seems that the BBC are also keen and Stewart is rumoured to have offered a reoccuring part in Season 5, with a possibly character debut in one of the specials.

So, it might all be fanboy wishes but Stewart is on record as saying he'd be interested in appearing on the show and personally more than Patrick Stewart appearing on the show (which I'd love to see) is the fact that if he does play The Meddling Monk it means that other Timelords are out there (well, we already know that the possibility exists because of the appearence of The Master).

Patrick Stewart good. Meddling Monk... perhaps not so impressive. He was a schmuck first time round, and that was a looong time ago. Want we want is "I are serios actor. This are serios Time Lord."

There's only one Time Lord character left to bring back that I would be at all interested in, and that would be Romana. Plus she'd have a decent plot rationale already waiting since she's been hiding in the wrong universe. The Meddling Monk was a crap one-shot from before they had the Master, nothing more. Still, Patrick Stewart would be a good catch, although this is probably all nonsense.

I would just like the whole bloody timewar and destruction of the timelords thing to be revealed as cosmic joke or something. Bring back the timelords. And lets stop this garbage about the Dr. being Jesus on steroids as well.

Hmm - cue unsupported rampant speculation ...

Recurring character ... a ring ... the Master?

Bringing in another timelord reduces the impact of the master. Unless it's aprelude to the return of Gallifrey and a fundamental shift in the paradigm of the show.

Well, technically we already have other time-travellers anyway. After all there's Captain Jack, the man from the from the future (and another planet, IIRC), who we first meet in the past, now living in the present. And I believe he was part of some organisation of such time agents or something, with his former partner having been played by that Spike fella from Buffy, Angel and what is now playing Brainiac in Smallville.
