Good Luck America...

Well, the big day is upon us with what amounts to one of the most important elections in the world. Apart from the History making potential aspect of today the result will also dictate much of the direction the world will take over the next few years - with the ripple effects well beyond those short 4 or 8 years in office for the victor. The US election has a profound effect on not only America and how everyone perceives America but also on the entire planet.

I know whom I'd be voting for if I had a say but the important thing to day is for Americans to go and vote for the candidate they feel best suited to lead their nation forward.

I'm hoping for no voter fraud, lost ballot boxes or dodgy electronic counters this time round. Just a nice simple straight forward fair and honest election.

Whomever wins today I hope they are the best person for the job and have a good team of people around them.

Good luck America.

Thanks man. I wish I could say that the election is merely an American thing and not really something that will impact the rest of the world. I don't care for the usual American self-importance much myself. I do however realize the part we do play in the grand scheme of things and hope we can have a leadership that acts responsibly and a part of a global community instead of a self-declared "father knows best" state running roughshod over the rights and interests of other sovereign nations.

I really hope things go smoothly and there are no weird "coincidences" of things going awry in the process...in either direction.

I don't think America has ever had an election without the first two, and problems with mechanical voting machines have been around since the invention of mechanical voting machines.
