Most of the staff had extended-Christmas arrangements with their families and the one member that didn't couldn't come in as his wife works on Saturdays and he had to look after the kid. That meant that we either had to get someone else in for the day (and our usual part-timers were eitehr working elsewhere or not in London visitng family) or for one of the regular team to forego a day with the family.
I had claimed I was perfectly happy working alone as I didn't think it'd be a busy day today. Mike was less happy about one person being in the shop and was going to cut short his commitments and come in. I managed to convince him to come in late atleast and when he phoned this morning I confirmed that the shop is pretty dead today and he wasn't really needed.
To be fair he hasn't been. We've had very few customers through the door today and I've really just been processing mail order paperwork for the team to pack on Monday, updating some catalogues and getting a efw of the orders ready to be placed on Monday.
Courtesy of the internet I can order some lunch and drinks for delivery and we're probably closing early today (about 4pm) anyway so it's hardly a chore.
The only problem I have is the sneaky suspicion that I may be coming down with a cold or something. I woke up this mroning and my eyes and joints were all aching - and they still are.
I'll make sure to eat lots of Oranges when I get home tonight to try and fend whatever it may be off...wish me luck! :p
I don't want to come down with the bug doing the rounds just before new year.
Anyway, back to work.
Hope everyone's having a good weekend so far.
